Stihl strimmers have been notoriously difficult to start in the past, so they have highlighted this problematic area and fixed this with the FS40 by pretty much eliminating the flooded engine troubles.

With low emissions, faster acceleration and reduced fuel consumption which will please the eco-friendly folk, the Stihl FS 40 strimmer enables these possibilities using the 2-stroke engine with stratified charge.

Is the pricing fair?

We think it is very fair. It is a complete petrol strimmer with technology that supersedes anything before it.

Whilst looking into the Stihl FS40’s technical information, we find that the machine has a specific ability to create a significant amount of improved power.

It does this by allowing a fuel-free layer of air to form between the burned charge, the combustion chamber, and the crankcase’s fresh charge. By doing this, it can reduce the amount of lost fuel when in a charge cycle.

The charge cycle enables the FS 40 weight to power ratio to consume up to 20% less fuel consumption than other regular 2-stroke engines, which in turn significantly reduces exhaust emissions.

Reduced-emission engine technology

2-stroke engine with stratified charge. A fuel-free layer of air is created between the burned charge in the combustion chamber and the fresh charge in the crankcase, reducing the amount of fuel lost during the charge cycle. This results in more power with a lower weight, up to 20% lower fuel consumption than regular 2-stroke engines and significantly reduced exhaust emissions.

Manual fuel pump (Purger)

A small fuel pump delivers fuel to the carburettor at the touch of a button. This reduces the number of starting strokes required following extended breaks in operations.

Simplified starting system

Simply set the choke, pump the fuel primer, pull the starter cord and away you go! The running machine then switches off after a brief press of the stop button. Once the machine is at a standstill, the ignition activates again automatically. Thus the ignition is always ready for starting.

Multi-function control handle

Easy, comfortable thumb-operated control means the operator’s hand never leaves the handle.
