This StIhl GHE 355 electric shredder has an easy-to-use rotary switch for reversing the rotation direction of the blades. Specific blades are activated by the blade rotation reverse system (BRS). Shredding material is hard and woody by using sharp edges oriented clockwise. Blades shred compostable material in an anti-clockwise direction. You can shred large quantities of material with the system, and the special blades can be kept sharp for longer. A large feed chute makes STIHL shredder operation easier. Shredding in the garden is quieter with a soundproofed feed chute. Integrated spray protection provides additional protection against swirling dirt. For instance, this garden shredder’s electromagnetic safety lock prevents the machine from automatically starting during maintenance or when the blade is being changed. On the Stihl GHE 355 shredder, the safety switch is embedded in the opening mechanism. In a machine whose closure screws are removed, the safety switch is triggered, interrupting the current flow.

I bought this and wish i purchased a model with a collection box. However, I got around this by placing a large plastic sheet underneath the chute, and sliding it up the trailer.
Quite loud, very tall – 4 stars because of this.
This model doesn’t come with a collection box though it does at least feature a guard hood. I’d advise placing a garden tarpaulin underneath the exit chute so you don’t end up with a garden full of chippings and mulched leaves.

Although the shredder is quite tall, it’s reasonably easy to move around. The multiple settings make it far more easier to switch between branches or leaves, and it’s extremely efficient. Quite noisy, but that’s a sign to me of Stihl’s fantastic build quality. I would recommend the GHE 355.

Purchased this after having a smaller shredder, and found the GHE 355 to be much speedier. Well worth the money and getting so much more gardening done. The shredder is quite tall but it feels very safe to use, and the guard to stop me putting my hand near the blade is a perfect design. Very rarely gets stuck even with big chunks wood and debris. I’ve found it amazing at shredding soft materials.

ANOTHER FANTASTIC STIHL PRODUCT. I OWNED SOME SMALLER CHIPPERS BY BOSCH (£100 CHEAPER), BUT AFTER OWNING A FEW STIHL MAINTENANCE MACHINES I THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE THE GHE 355 A GO.
