The Stihl KM 131 Kombi Engine has a newly updated 4-MIX engine with the comfortable bike handle operation. The latest addition to the Kombi Engine range features an easier starter method and large fuel tank. This means you can operate at better efficiency for longer periods.
- Easier starting method,
- Bike handle grip,
- Compatible with twelve attachments,
- A lightweight comfortable operation,
- Powerful yet quiet.
Versatile attachments with maximum power from the Stihl KM 131
The KM 131 benefits from the power of a 4-stroke engine with the flexibility of a 2-stroke. Running on a fuel and oil mix, the internal mechanics are well lubricated meaning a quieter, high accelerating revolution power. This results in an increase of torque and power whilst increasing efficiency by reducing emissions output and noise. Additionally, this increase in power efficiency means less fuel consumption.
Lightweight and easy to use.
As with most Stihl products, the design comes into play to ensure the KM131 is comfortable and lightweight to operate. Weighing in at just 4.8kg with the combination of the bike-handle grip, you can expect to manoeuvre this unit around with ease.
Stihl has further improved its starter feature with simple but effective features. The manual fuel pump benefits the engine from needing fewer strokes to start. Additionally, a decompression valve of the start rope helps reduce the amount of force necessary to get it going. As standard, the stop/ start switch makes restarting the machine fast and simple.
An attachment tool for every gardening job
Fortunately, the Stihl KM131 Kombi Engine is compatible with the full range of KombiTools. The lightweight and versatile design are ideal for those tight working areas whether you are using the blower, bristle brush or edge trimmer. Removal and fitment of attachment are made extremely simple with the quick release system. Finally, the harness attachment can increase productivity by reducing the strain from working on large areas whilst improving smooth mowing actions.
Features We Like
Manual fuel pump
The manual fuel pump makes starting the tool easier. Pressing the pump ensures fewer strokes are required to start the tool as sufficient fuel is present within the carburettor.
Multi-function handle with stop button
All the engine controls can be controlled with just one hand featuring a stop switch which automatically reverts back to the start position for a quicker, simple restart.
Bike handle
When used in conjunction with a harness, the bike handle enables a smooth mowing action. The bike handle allows the machine to be easily guided, making it ideal for working on large areas, thus reducing fatigue.
STIHL 4-MIX® engine
You can always rely on STIHL to keep setting new benchmarks this time with 4-stroke mixed lubrication technology. The STIHL 4-MIX® engine, which runs on a fuel-oil mix just like a 2-stroke, offers the benefits without the compromises of 4-stroke power. STIHL 4-MIX engine technology provides fast acceleration, more power, added torque, lower noise, reduced emissions and increased fuel efficiency to complete jobs quickly, quietly and more easily.
Air filter with long service life
The easily accessible paper filter with a long service life means it can go for long intervals without changing. (similar to illustration)
Stop switch
The multi-function control handle features a stop switch which automatically reverts back to the start position for a quicker, simple restart.
Decompression system
The decompression valve allows some of the compression pressure in the cylinder to escape, so less force on the starter rope is needed.
Quick-release coupling
The quick-release coupling allows the KombiSystem to be quickly dismantled into two parts for easy transport and storage – and then re-assembled quickly without tools.
Shoulder strap / carrying system
Using a STIHL shoulder strap or carrying harness with soft padding makes work more comfortable, particularly during lengthy jobs.
Anti-vibration system
Intense vibration at the handles of power tools can lead to long-term effects on blood vessels in the hands and arms. STIHL has therefore developed an effective anti-vibration system whereby the oscillations from the machine’s engine are dampened which significantly reduces vibrations at the handles.

I prefer the bike handle operation to the loop handle, and this really does make using the attachment far easier to manoeuvre over long periods of time.
