Effortless starting is helped by way of the decompression valve. It is advisable to press the valve before starting so that the compression pressure is reduced and alleviating the need to pull the starter rope. The decompression valve is semi-automatic; it must be pressed manually to start but then automatically shuts off.

With Stihl M-Tronic (M), you can adjust ignition timing and fuel metering in all modes. Besides temperature and altitude, it also takes fuel quality into account. The engine runs at a constant maximum speed with excellent acceleration. Manual carburettor adjustments aren’t necessary with M-Tronic. With electronic cold/warm start recognition, the combi-lever only has one start position. Even after a cold start, the engine starts quickly and doesn’t need to move from its starting position. In addition, M-Tronic remembers settings from the last time you used the Stihl MS 462 C-M R. As long as the external conditions are the same, you’ll get optimal performance every time.

After turning off the machine, the control lever moves back into the operating position immediately. Restarting a warm device this way helps to keep it warm.

An engine that saves fuel without lacking power

One-in-four channel technology makes the MS 462 C-M R economical. Stihl’s economic 2-MIX engine offers high torque over a wide speed range. Chainsaws equipped with 2-MIX technology perform and engines featuring two-strokes without savings of up to 20%. Emissions are reduced by 50%.

In carburettors, the compensator prevents the fuel-air mixture from becoming too rich as the air filter gets clogged. Depending on how much air passes through the air filter, the right amount of fuel gets delivered to the carburettor. In turn, this keeps the fuel/air ratio constant in the combustion mixture and the engine’s power. A filter doesn’t need cleaning until it drops in strength significantly.

Added features to make the chainsaw last longer and more manageable to use.

The vibration from power tools can permanently damage blood vessels in your hands and arms with an anti-vibration system. To reduce vibrations at the handles, Stihl has developed an effective anti-vibration system in which the MS 462 C-M R’s engine oscillations are dampened, which significantly reduces vibrations.

HD2 filter with a radial seal, Made from PET material and featuring a radial seal, the HD2 air filter prevents the intake of fine dust particles. By using an airtight seal, the engine will last longer and wear less.

The side chain tensioner is accessed through the cover of the sprocket. It’s safer since you don’t have to touch the sharp saw chain.

No tools are needed to open or lock the fuel and oil tanks with toolless filler caps.

This sprocket cover is a bit flatter, narrower and has integrated slide rails which reduces effort and ensures excellent chip removal.

Stihl Ematic with a new oil pump system, which allows a higher volume of oil to be delivered to the MS 462 C-M R. This is especially useful in dusty conditions or when using a long guide bar.
