To get the engine started, just tug on the starter cord with one effortless pull – and it’s ready to mow. This is achieved by an automatic choke system that requires no priming, so you can start the mower in all temperatures.

With the single speed drive, it’s also a self-propelled mower you just need to guide through over your lawn. The effortless system pushes itself forward with the press of a paddle. Fantastic news for large gardens as there is no fatigue of pushing the mower over uneven ground. Large wheels with a well thought out tread pattern also improve grip in moist grass, increasing efficiency.

Height adjustments for comfort and lawn style

For example, the handlebar is adjustable to different heights for the comfort level of short or tall people. Additionally, no tools are required to make this adjustment, meaning it’s quick and easy for anyone in the household to personally adjust.

Furthermore, the central cutting system is simple to adjust for your lawn care needs. With the simple push of a lever, you can adjust the 45cm (18inch) cutter blades to as low as 25mm, to a maximum of 75mm in height, ideal to get those perfect lawn stripes.

This Stihl RM 448 TC petrol lawn mower comes with an optimised venting design to allow maximum grass collection with zero dust escape. The large capacity with it’s the ability to pressures more cuttings in means you can mow for longer without the need to empty. When you have mowed your lawn, simply open the two-part catcher box to easily empty.

Fortunately, the robust high impact material of polymer housing is UV and heat resistant, so your mower will last longer than similarly priced petrol mower. Finally, the high lift blades improve cutting performance by creating a vortex of air within the housing, lifting grass so it can be cut to the required size.

Easy start engine (ReadyStart)

Thanks to the ReadyStart technology, the engine of the STIHL petrol lawn mower can be reliably started up with minimal effort both during cold and warm starting.

Self-propelled

Self-propelled STIHL lawn mowers take the effort out of lawn mowing. The drive mechanism propels the mower without it physically having to be pushed. This makes working easier, especially on large lawns and inclines.

Highlift blade

The highlift blade gives a precise finish to the lawn and ensures optimal filling of the grass catcher box. The blade creates a strong air current in the housing, which makes the grass stand upright before cutting and efficiently carries the clippings into the catcher box using an integrated and powerful air flow system.

The plastic grass catcher box can be easily opened and emptied thanks to its folding mechanism. The current of air produced during mowing blows the clippings into the grass catcher box and ensures a high degree of filling. Thanks to the downward-facing vanes, the air is guided sideways towards the ground, preventing dirt from being thrown up. The level indicator signals the correct time for emptying. The airflow generated by the blade raises the level indicator. When the basket is full, the airflow stops. If the airflow is too low, the level indicator returns to its idle state and this is an indication to empty the catcher box.Optimal airflow is required in order for the level indicator to function fully. External influences such as wet, dense or tall grass, a low cutting height, contamination, etc. may affect the airflow and the performance of the level indicator.

Smooth running wheels

The smooth running wheels of the STIHL lawn mowers are extremely robust and hard-wearing. They have been equipped with a traction pattern and directional stability tread pattern for effortless manoeuvring and to help hold perfect line during mowing.

Carrying handles

This STIHL lawn mower is equipped with carrying handles to make transport simple and loading easy. The carrying handles are also suitable as lashing points for securing the lawn mower with a strap during transport.

Polymer housing

The extremely lightweight polymer housing combines high resistance and robustness against forces, heat and UV radiation.

Central cutting height adjustment

The central cutting height adjustment is spring-loaded, which makes it easy to set the desired cutting height in several settings. The current height is indicated by a scale.

Mulching function

During mulching, the mulching blade shreds the mown grass before it falls back into the turf as a nutritional fertiliser. And with the appropriate mulching kit available as an optional accessory for this lawn mower, the machine can also be converted into a Multi-mower.
