Bright LCD Display
The STIHL iMOW® robotic mower has its control panel integrated into the housing. The panel features a large LCD display and provides an intuitive way of recording all settings, as well as a way of viewing all the functions available along with giving you performance data of the automatic lawn mower. The display is bright and its high contrast makes it easy to read even in sunlight.
Movable Hood
It has a movable hood with inbuilt sensors to protect the STIHL iMOW® from the weather and obstacles. If the iMOW® robotic mower comes up against an obstacle during mowing operations, integrated sensors will detect contact with the object and send the mower off in a different direction.
All-Round Safety Protection
The STIHL iiMOW® robotic mower is equipped with a number of sensors, so if someone attempts to pick it up while it’s mowing, it will instantly stop to avoid any accidents. In addition to this, the automatic lawn mower can be protected with a PIN code so that it can only be operated by entering this PIN which further protects from any unauthorised use. On all C models, the iMOW® robotic mower can also be located using the free iMOW® app via smartphone or tablet using GPS.
Standard Equipment
The standard equipment for the STIHL iMOW® robotic mower includes the RMI422 PC machine, the intelligent docking station, four pegs for securing the docking station to the ground as well as an iMOW® ruler as an aid for laying the perimeter wire. An installation kit is also required to install the iMOW® robotic mower.
Docking Station
The smart docking station acts as both the robotic mower’s home and also where it docks to recharge the battery. At the same time, it is the starting point for every mowing operation. When in operation, the automatic lawn mower is guided by a signal transmitted by the perimeter wire installed at the edge of your lawn. This signal is beamed via the docking station itself. If during any mowing outings it begins to rain or if the battery runs down, the iMOW® robotic mower independently returns to the docking station to recharge its battery. Thanks to its intelligent charging system, the iMOW® then decides whether a speed charge is necessary due to another imminent mowing operation or whether the battery should be gently charged in normal mode ready for a later mowing run. The docking station can be positioned within or outside the lawn area.
Mulching Mowing Deck
The iMOW® is designed with a sturdy mulching blade which ensures a really precise cut pattern, even if the grass has a higher growth. The rotational direction of the blade changes direction automatically every time the blade stops. This is to help the blades wear evenly. To further aid ease of maintenance, the blade can be changed without the need for tools.
Offset Drive Home
By default, the iMOW® robotic mower will travel back home to the docking station along the perimeter wire, but If required, the iMOW® can also travel to its docking station with an alternating offset to the perimeter wire. (depending on the condition of the edge of the mowing area)
Control Panel
The control panel with the integrated and bright display is used on all STIHL iMOW® robotic mowers. This enables a really easy setup and quick machine information display. The panel is flush-mounted into the housing of the automatic lawn mower and the high-contrast display means the control panel can also be used in sunlight.
iMOW® Robotic Mower Drive
The STIHL iMOW® robotic mowers feature a drive that enables them to mow hilly terrain with consistently high quality. The RMI 422 PC can handle gradients of up to 40% with ease so rest assured it has your lawn covered.
App Control
The iMOW® app will transform your STIHL iMOW® robotic mower into a standalone smart garden system. The app menu can be accessed via a smartphone or tablet and is extremely intuitive to use> It allows many mowing settings to be made while on the move as well as directly on the machine itself. The iMOW® app is completely free and offers a real-time overview of all the main functions along with performance data. Thanks to the integrated rain sensor and ability to check online weather forecasts, the robotic lawn mower will only mow if the weather condition is suitable. With the interactive mowing plan, time windows can be set for each day during which the iMOW® robotic mower will work independently and charge its battery. Using GPS localisation, the current location can also be viewed and the desired zone can be defined as the preferred mowing location at a specific time.
Adaptive Slope Speed
The STIHL iMOW® RMI 422PC uses its inbuilt tilt sensor to constantly analyse the position of the automatic lawnmower and then adjusts its speed as required. It incorporates its adaptive slope speed function to achieve this on uneven or hilly terrain.
Dynamic mowing plan
Using the interactive mowing plan of the STIHL iMOW® robotic mower, individual time windows during which the machine can be in operation can be defined for each day. Within these active times, the automatic lawn mower automatically determines the best times to mow for an optimum result. If it has to interrupt mowing because of rain, it automatically catches up later within the specified time window. The dynamic mowing plan can be called up and activated via the control panel or conveniently via the iMOW® app.
Traction Patterned Wheels
The treaded wheels of the automatic lawnmower are self-cleaning which is always a bonus and the smooth-running wheels with their traction pattern will ensure the STIHL iMOW® robotic mower moves very precisely for optimal results. This is emphasised more on hilly lawns with a gradient of up to 40% or lawns with dense grass growth.
STIHL IMOW FAQ’s
How do I adjust the cutting height?
You can adjust the cutting height using the rotary knob on top of the iMOW® robotic mower. Select the desired cutting height with reference to the marking on the rotary knob.
- The minimum cutting height (setting 1) is 20 mm
- The maximum cutting height (setting 8) is 60 mm
What happens to the cuttings?
The iMOW® robotic mower is a mulching mower. During mulching, the grass clippings are further shredded in the mowing deck housing after cutting. They then fall back into the turf, where they remain and decompose. The finely shredded clippings return organic nutrients to the lawn, serving as a natural fertiliser. Fertiliser requirements are thereby reduced significantly.
Where are the ‘no go’ areas?
No-go areas are areas where the iMOW® robotic mower should not venture. No-go areas can include
- Ponds
- Swimming pools
- Flowerbeds
- Vegetable patches
These areas must be cordoned off by routing the perimeter wire accordingly
Can the RMI 422PC Robotic Lawnmower mow lawn edges cleanly?
Soft edges (ground level patios, paths, etc.) are positioned inside the perimeter wire in such a way that the mower produces perfectly clean results. Around hard edges such as walls, raised patios, etc., the iMOW® robotic mower is installed in such a way that it travels as close to the edge as possible, but always safely.
How does the rain sensor work?
The rain sensor can be set so that mowing is interrupted or does not start when it is raining. The current value is displayed in a line diagram in the menu under “SMART” > “Weather” > “Rain sensor”. In order to set the 5-stage sensor, slide the control to the left or right. The rain sensor can also be set under “Settings” > “Rain sensor”. The sensitivity of the rain sensor and the time the robotic mower waits for the sensor surface to dry following rain varies, depending on the setting.
What happens when the battery on the IMOW is completely discharged?
The iMOW® robotic mower enters the docking station automatically at the end of the mowing operation or when the battery is low on energy. The number and duration of the mowing and charging operations within the active times are adapted fully automatically – Download PDF Manual Here (If Available)
