Stihl’s SH 86 C-E is a 2in1 solution offering a blower mode and a vacuum shredder mode. This is an elegant solution for users looking to both blow leaves and debris away, but also shred waste for removal. You’ll find it’s extremely easy to switch between the blower and shredder modes.

Built into the SH86 C-E is a rotating shredder blade, as you suck up garden waste with the powerful vacuum it passes through the blade – compacting mulched grass clipping and leaves into the large 45L vacuum bag for easy disposal. A quick conversion will see you turn the machine into a strong leaf blower, to guide debris off driveways, patio and lawns as needed.

Fortunately, the Stihl SH 86 CE has been designed with the professional in mind to reduce fatigue through its features. Take the shoulder strap attachment, which takes the strain of carrying the 5.8-kilogram vacuum shredder, whilst allowing for a full range of movement.

Additionally, both the blower and vacuum settings can be operated with one-handed control. Most machines would be uncomfortable to use for long periods of time, but Stihl has developed anti-vibration technology to reduce the handle judder. Also, the handle is a soft grip to improve the comfort and ensure a secure tight grip without strain, even in wet conditions.

Furthermore, the SH 86 C-E is easy to start with Stihl’s ErgoStart technology. Ergo Start makes starting the vacuum shredder more efficient, reliable and with far less effort. Just pull the starter cord with less than a third of usual force required, and the inbuilt system will take care of the rest.

Powered by a fuel-friendly engine, it works by creating a fuel-free layer of air is created between the burned charge in the combustion chamber and the fresh charge in the crankcase. This reduces the amount of fuel lost during the charge cycle. Also results in more power with a lower weight, up to 20% lower fuel consumption than regular 2-stroke engines and significantly reduced exhaust emissions.

A small manual fuel pump delivers fuel to the carburettor at the touch of a button. This reduces the number of starting pulls required following extended breaks in operations.

The HD2 filter, made from polyethylene filter material, has pores that are up to 70% finer than those of fleece and polyamide filters and therefore eliminates even the finest dust. In addition, it repels oil and water and is therefore very easy to clean. The PET filter cartridge can be removed and inserted without tools.

Featuring a throttle lock with built-in stop switch means the running machine switches off immediately after a brief press of a button. Once the machine is at a standstill, the ignition activates again automatically, meaning it is always ready to start.
