The New HSA60: The Most Powerful Hedge Trimmer in the AK System
The HSA60 is the most powerful hedge trimmer available in the AK system, making it ideal for cutting large hedges and thicker growth around the garden.
The rotary handle can lock in three positions like on professional machines, increasing comfort when cutting long hedges and significantly reducing the strain on your wrist while working.
The soft rubberized material is easy to grip, and the front handle can be held in various positions for maximum versatility. The ergonomic forward-leaning angle of the front handle makes the HSA 60 well-balanced, and the wide spacing between the two handles makes it easy to manoeuvre.
Underneath the rear handle is a suspension eyelet for tidy storage on the garage or shed wall.
The cutting performance of the HSA 60 is the highest in our AK system, but it’s quiet and has low vibration thanks to the anti-vibration system, which is perfect for long periods of use. The HSA60 is lightweight, too, weighing 3.5 kilograms without the battery.
The anti-blocking system ensures the blades don’t get jammed on thick branches by reversing the rotational direction of the edge if they get stuck. This minimizes wear and tear to the machine and means you can get back on with the job quickly.
The HSA 60 has a cutting length of 60 centimetres, 10 centimetres longer than the HSA 50. This allows you to work quickly and helps achieve a precise flat finish to the hedge. The cutting blades are laser-cut diamond ground and hardened for long-lasting sharpness and a clean cut.
The wide 34-millimetre tooth spacing means it can cut thicker branches and more complicated wood, and the patented teardrop-shaped anvils help hold in plant material as it’s cut. The built-in tip protector prevents damage to the blade if you’re cutting near the ground or along a wall.
You can re-sharpen the blades with a high-quality flat file. Alternatively, a Still approved dealer would happily do this for you.
When looking after the blades, it’s important to lubricate them before use and protect them from resin buildup. Still Super Clean offers excellent lubrication, and a quick spray after each use dissolves plant resin and keeps the blades looking like new.
You can add a Stihl Smart Connector to help you keep up with maintenance tasks and track the machine’s runtime in the Still Connected app. You get helpful reminders to tell you when maintenance and servicing is due, plus you can even contact a Still approved dealer via the app if you’d like them to do this for you.
Like all Still cordless machines, the intelligent battery management system gives full power through the battery charge. And, of course, since the HC60 is part of the AK system, the same battery can be used in many other machines, including Long Reach hedge trimmers, lawnmowers, grass trimmers, and much more.
Features We Like
Swivelling multi-function handle
The handle rotates by 90° to the left and right, always ensuring the best cutting position.
Teardrop-shaped shrub cutter
The double-sided shrub cutter with proven STIHL teardrop-shaped teeth delivers top-cutting performance. The teardrop shape means branches are held securely at the blade for perfect cutting results. The shrub cutter’s bar length of 200 mm is ideal for precisely shaping small-leaved ornamental trees and hedges.
Anti-vibration system
Intense vibration at the handles of power tools can lead to long-term effects on blood vessels in the hands and arms. STIHL has therefore developed an effective anti-vibration system whereby the oscillations from the machine’s engine are dampened, significantly reducing vibrations at the handles.
STIHL Electric Motor (EC)
The STIHL electric motor (EC) is extremely energy efficient, lightweight and compact. It runs quietly, generates very low vibrations and does not require servicing.
Hanging loop
Hang your tool securely on a wall to save space using the loop in the handle housing.
Neutral battery position
The battery can be inserted into the tool in 2 stages. In the first neutral position, the battery is secured in the tool but does not connect with the contacts, allowing for safe transport. In the second operating position, the battery is completely inserted, allowing for full operation of the tool.
Pruning system
The single-sided precision-ground and double-sided cutting blades produce a clean cut when trimming hedges. The 33° cutting angle delivers excellent cutting performance. The blade teeth geometry allows cutting of twigs up to 8 mm thick.
Tip protection
Come with tip protection as standard, which prevents damage to both the blade and the gear, but also to things that lie near the hedgerow (e.g. natural stone wall). It also makes it easier to cut ground cover plants. (similar to illustration)
Scabbard
Protects the cutting blade for safe storage and transport.
Two-handed design
The tool is quickly started by activating both the loop handle and the rear handle switches. The cutting speed is continuously variable, using the rear control for a refined and precise cut. The two-handed design is suitable for both left and right-handed users.
Functional design
The engine housing has smooth surfaces and round contours. This prevents the tool from getting caught on branches. The hedge trimmers are easy to clean.
