The Stihl MS 261 C-M VW is a powerful professional petrol chainsaw that is lightweight, portable and easy to use with electric carburettor heating and heated handles. This Stihl MS 261 C-M VW packs additional features such as a heated carburettor and handles, an easy-clean HD2 filter, a controlled-delivery oil pump, and practical parts like captive nuts on the cover sprocket, monocoque cover with three quick-release fasteners, round out the list of features. Stihl MS 261 C-M VW engines equipped with 2-MIX technology ensure up to 20% less fuel consumption and up to 50% fewer emissions when compared to the same performance Stihl two-stroke engines without 2-MIX technology.

For the maintenance of small to medium trees, the MS261 C-M VW petrol chainsaw is ideal. Featuring a new guide bar, the Light 04, and the .325″ RS Pro saw chain to improve performance, this new version for 2020 gets the job done in less time. Compared to its predecessor (.325″ RS), the .325″ saw chain offers 20% more cutting performance thanks to its narrower teeth. Light and well balanced, it provides plenty of power, and the M-Tronic technology controls the machine and is always at its maximum efficiency thanks to the fuel/air mix at all times. This petrol chainsaw features STIHL’s anti-vibration system to ensure that you can work comfortably while using it.

You can select between several bar lengths with the MS 261 C-M petrol chainsaw. Additionally, the sprocket cover comes with captive nuts, and the HD2 filter provides easy-cleaning water protection for the sprockets. Using the 2-MIX technology, the MS 261 C-M petrol chainsaw consumes or emits up to 20% less fuel than the equivalent two-stroke engine in a STIHL chainsaw without 2-MIX technology.

STIHL M-Tronic (M)

During all active modes, this fully electronic engine management system adjusts fuel metering and ignition timing. Moreover, the model considers external factors such as temperature, altitude, and fuel quality. This system ensures a constant maximum speed, excellent acceleration and consistent engine performance. M-Tronic eliminates the need for manual carburettor adjustments. The combi-lever now has only one start position due to the electronic cold/warm start recognition. In addition to starting more smoothly, the engine requires fewer pulls and can accelerate immediately – even when it is cold. In addition, M-Tronic remembers previously used settings from the tool. Then, every time you start up again, the engine will continue to perform at its best when external conditions remain.

HD2 filter

HD2 filters are of a polyethene material whose pores are 70% smaller than those of fleece or polyamide to capture even the finest dust. Also, it is water-and oil-repellent, which makes it extremely easy to clean. With the quick-release lock on the PET-covered filter cartridge, the filter can be assembled and disassembled in just a few seconds without tools.

Decompression valve

Easy starting is facilitated through the decompression valve. It is crucial to open the valve before starting the engine to reduce compression pressure and reduce the effort required to pull the starter rope. Semi-automatic decompression valves require manual activation before an operation, but they automatically close afterwards.

ElastoStart by STIHL

This Stihl MS 261 C-M VW has Stihl ElastoStart, to reduce engine compression shocks during engine startup. The starter handle takes the compression shock away from the user’s joints and muscles with its springs and rubber elements.

An adjustable sidechain tensioner

You can reach the tensioning screw by going through the sprocket cover on the side of the chain saw. As a result, there is no need to touch the sharp saw chain.

An oil pump with variable displacement

This variable oil pump delivers oil according to demand in a precise manner. In the E position, you will be able to reduce oil production by up to 50%. Oil can be added by the user for huge cutting attachments or very dry wood.

Tool-free filler caps

A special catch provides easy opening and locks the fuel and oil tanks without tools.

Ematic chain lubrication system

By lubricating the saw chain links and rails precisely, the Ematic chain lubrication system ensures optimal performance. This tool design provides maximum lubrication, more extended wear, and less oil consumption, when used with STIHL OILOMATIC saw chains. Bar oil consumption can be reduced by up to 50% by using the Ematic system.

Advanced combustion technology

As a result of four overflow channels, a perfect mixture of fuel and air is created before ignition to allow efficient combustion. Fuel consumption is reduced, and torque is higher over a wide rpm range as a result.
