Firstly, the AP system of batteries will give you a minimum of 42 minutes runtime, no need to worry about carrying petrol or finding the nearest powerpoint.
Secondly, with no combustion engine means there are no fumes. So you can work in enclosed areas such as a warehouse or log cabin without the worry of emissions.
Thirdly, the Stihl electric motor that powers the MSA 160 C-BQ is extremely quiet, therefore, you can work in noise-sensitive areas or unsociable hours. The motor is also very efficient and requires less maintenance compared to petrol models.
Finally, electrically powered motors do not vibrate as much as an engine powered power tools, meaning you can use the machine for longer without hand fatigue.

However, it’s fair to say the MSA 160 C-BQ is safer compared to its petrol-powered version. This machine also features a QuickStop Super Chain Brake so the chain stops immediately when the user let’s go of the rear handle, throttle or when the front guard is activated. As a consequence, when there be a strong kick-back the chain shuts off automatically, offering further protection.

QuickStop Super Chain Brake (Q)
The additional braking system for extra safety. Users can trigger the chain brake directly at the rear handle. The chain stops in seconds whenever the user lets go of the rear handle and whenever there is sufficiently strong kickback or when the front hand guard is activated. This unique safety feature ensures even more user protection in all working positions.
STIHL Quick Chain Tensioning (B)
The STIHL chain quick tensioning system (B) makes it very easy to tension the chain. Just release the sprocket cover and turn the knob to set the optimum tension. No tools needed.
Ematic chain lubrication system
