Since its introduction, the construction industry has confirmed this cut-off saw as the leading option, all thanks to its fuel injection technology. Additionally, although a 72.2cc petrol engine powers it, the electronically controlled fuel/air mixture also reduces fuel consumption by 20% compared to standard petrol models. This support frame provides precise edges over long cuts, and with depths accurate to the millimetre, the FW 20 cart is specific enables the professional to improve their efficiency.
Additionally, there is a purposeful water delivery system, Again, electronically controlled via simplistic buttons. The flow of water is synced to the disc cutter’s engine speed to reduce user input. A fantastic Stihl disc cutter, the fuel injection version of the TS480i really does outperform my TS410, and I’m noticing far less lag in power. It’s very torquey, which makes it ideal for cutting jobs once you get going. If it wasn’t for the lightness and handle design, this would be quite hard to control. Fortunately, it’s well balance and I can use it without the cart with extreme control.

I’ve run the same ts400 for 15 years daily with very little repairs but obviously now coming to the end off it’s life. So I invest in the all singing & dancing TS480i WHAT A MISTAKE ! After 3 weeks it breaks down so off the warranty repairer, comes back after a week and says you’ve been cutting steel and the metal filings have entered the generator. I thought these saws was designed to cut steel. Any masonry blade in to cut block, the saw breaks down again, off to repairer again this time was told the saw is to complicated to fix and must be returned to stihl, off it goes. After 2 weeks the saw needed a new control unit at no cost through warranty but would have cost £160 for the part plus labour & shipping charge. Moral of the story is don’t buy these saws, only stihl has the specialist equipment to fix them at a very expensive cost. Wires everywhere with to much to break. Worst saw ever.

Good quality disc cutter, a shame about the national shortage though as had to wait for my machine to be delivered. Would a 5/5 stars, but Stihl lose a star for the delays.
